A Study on microstructure, mechanical and fracture behavior of Al2O3 - MoS2 reinforced Al6061 hybrid composite

Al composites usage is growing and gaining importance in aerospace, automotive marine industries due to their excellent characteristics. Aluminum exhibit high resistance wear corrosion, possess strength, offer durability more such properties. In this study, 6061 alloy, reinforced with Al2O3 - MoS2 was produced by a stir casting technique its microstructure mechanical behavior were evaluated. Reinforcements added the range of 0 9 wt. %. The analysis, tensile compressive strength hybrid MMCs (Metal Matrix Composites) have been analyzed examined. From investigational it found that reinforcing particulates are evenly dispersed base matrix. porosity density be enhanced. ultimate could improved addition ceramic (Al2O3) compared monolithic. Further, decreased adding (solid lubricant) along hard particulates. Finally, fractured surface UTS test specimens analysed using SEM analysis.
